Reading and Exiles stick together
Reading and London Irish have dismissed reports stating this season’s Championship winners are keen for their partnership to end next season.
Irish, finalists in rugby union’s European Challenge Cup, play at Reading Football Club’s Madejski Stadium and both clubs issued a statement today declaring they will honour the four years remaining on the current arrangement.
Reading chief executive Nigel Howe said: “There is absolutely no substance to this rumour.
“We are very happy with our relationship with London Irish. We have a contract until 2010 and we would be keen to extend our agreement beyond that date.”
London Irish chief executive Ina Taylor is also happy for the Exiles to continue playing their home games at the Madejski Stadium.
He said: “Both clubs are pleased with the way their relationship has worked and developed over the past six years.
“We are committed to a long-term partnership and look forward to continuing to develop the stadium as a venue for top-class football and rugby for years to come.”
