Cork Airport identified as growth market

For the first time, Cork airport is to overtake Shannon as the second busiest in the country. Figures for passengers are expected to reach 2.2 million by the end of the year.

for passengers are expected to reach 2.2 million by the end of the year.

The news comes as Aer Arann announces two extra flights on the Cork-Dublin route which it describes as one of its busiest. Passenger numbers on its Cork route alone are expected to exceed 280,000 this year.

The company, which operates nine flights a day on the Cork-Dublin route, has announced that it is to maintain it summer schedule throughout the winter as a result of heavy bookings.
