A protest was held in Dublin today over sectarian violence.

Members of Sinn Fein and Dublin’s Lord Mayor, along with 150 people, attended the event.

There was also a book of condolence there for people to sign.

The protest came ahead of one that is due to take place in the North in under a week’s time.

Belfast City Council has passed a motion to hold a public demonstration against sectarianism in the city in the first week of August.

Sinn Fein put forward the motion which was passed by 20 votes to nine.

However, members of the DUP have argued that the proposal is to cover up republican involvement in street violence.
