The Vatican has confirmed it is to issue a statement on the setting up of the inquiry into the handling of sexual abuses cases in the Diocese of Ferns.

The Vatican has confirmed it is to issue a statement on the setting up of the inquiry into the handling of sexual abuses cases in the Diocese of Ferns.

The announcement will come at 11.00am tomorrow, at which time a corresponding statement will be made by the Catholic Church in Ireland.

It comes as senior counsel George Bermingham met Attorney General Michael McDowell to discuss how to proceed in the inquiry ordered by the Minister for Health.
