An Post is this morning assessing the impact of the post masters dispute on rural deliveries.

In total, 540 rural sub offices are closed today due to a pay dispute by the Irish Post Masters Union (IPU).

However, in a deal struck with An Post, postal workers agreed to sort the mail in their homes. IPU General Secretary, John Kane, has said that his members have no choice but to continue this action two days a week up until Christmas if An Post does not negotiate.
