Midday was the heroine in the Qatar Prix Vermeille at Longchamp as Sariska again refused to race.
The Michael Bell-trained filly remained stuck in the stalls – just like she did for the Yorkshire Oaks last month.
And just as at York, it was Henry Cecil’s charge who benefited to win for the fifth time at the top level, beating the French pair of Plumania and Sarafina.
Ashiyla, acting as pacemaker for Sarafina, cut out the running from Plumania and Lady's Purse and she held on to the lead into the straight.
Meanwhile, Midday made her move in the hands of Tom Queally to lead a furlong out and get first run on Sarafina.
Khalid Abdullah’s filly put the race to bed in a matter of strides to win from Plumania, with Sarafina finishing well to claim third.
Paddy Power reacted by making Midday evens favourite from 13-8 to land a second Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf crown, with Skybet the same price from 6-4.
Sariska's connections immediately called time on the career of last year's dual Oaks winner.
Bell said: ``It has been a great journey, but that is the end of the road.
“We’ve done everything we could and she didn’t come out, so enough is enough.”
Connections of Midday are intent on going to America for her next run rather than the Arc.
Cecil said: “I really needed to get another run into her to get ready for the Breeders’ Cup. I love the Arc, but the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf is her race.
“She did it very nicely, she only does enough.”
