Tipperary 1-12 Cork 0-16
Tipp and Cork put on an entertaining show at Semple Stadium even though both of them had safely qualified from Division 1B of the National Hurling League.
Cork had to bring out the big guns - Sean Óg O hAilpín, Niall McCarthy and Ben O’Connor - to ensure victory in this tight encounter.
Tipp started well as Eoin Kelly scored four early points with the wind behind him.
Two from Neil Ronan, who was in top form, and one for Joe Deane narrowed the Tipp lead to 0-5 to 0-3 after 20 minutes.
Tipperary found the net on 31 minutes as John Devane goaled, but the Rebels kept in touch with some excellent points to leave it locked at 1-6 to 0-9 at the break.
In an entertaining, and sometimes heated, second half, Cork just had the edge as they brought their top talent off the bench to run out narrow winners.
In today's other Division 1B game Limerick beat Antrim 3-21 to 2-12 at the Gaelic Grounds.
