Up to 170 nursing staff at a psychiatric hospital in Co Tipperary are due to begin industrial action today over their employer’s alleged failure to investigate allegations against a senior staff member.

Reports this morning said the nurses would only be providing emergency care to patients at St Luke’s Hospital in Clonmel as part of the protest action.

The move was reportedly arranged in protest at the South Eastern Health Board’s alleged failure to properly investigate a number of complaints made against a senior member of staff.
