Kenny Perry birdied the last to take a one-shot victory in the US PGA Tour’s Greater Milwaukee Open at Brown Deer Park.
Perry, who finished with a 12-under-par 268 following his last-round 66, needed his last-hole effort to avoid a play-off against Steve Allan and Heath Slocum, who were tied for second spot while Brett Quigley was fourth.
“I don’t know why all of a sudden I’m winning golf tournaments,” Perry said. “It’s just my time, and I believe in my heart I’m going to win.”
Perry had looked set to miss out on his third win in four starts when he followed a bogey on the 12th with a double bogey on the next hole to slip from one ahead to three behind.
But three birdies and a par on the last four holes saw Perry through, with Allan dropping one shot over the same holes.
