Cahill shakes up Saffrons line-up

Antrim manager Dinny Cahill will test the depth of his squad when the Saffrons take on Armagh in Sunday's Ulster SHC final.

Antrim manager Dinny Cahill will test the depth of his squad when the Saffrons take on Armagh in Sunday's Ulster SHC final.

For the game at Casement Park (throw-in 3.30pm), Cahill has made 11 changes to the team that beat Carlow in the All-Ireland qualifiers last weekend.

Defenders Christopher McGuinness and Kieran McGourty, midfielder Simon McCrory and wing forward Eddie McCloskey are the only survivors.

With opponents Armagh seen as huge outsiders, Cahill is resting a number of first choice players ahead of next week's third phase of the qualifiers.

James McCouaig replaces Cormac Donnelly in the full-back line, while there is a new-look half-back combination of Kevin McKeague, Matthew Donnelly and Ciaran Herron.

Goalkeeper Ciaran Cunningham is one of a number of Championship debutants on board. McCrory and Barry McFall have been paired together in midfield, and Joey Scullion and Thomas McCann have been drafted into the half-forwards.

The experienced Karl McKeegan will feature in the full-forward line along with Paddy Doherty and Colm McFall. Paul Shiels, Kevin Molloy, Karl Stewart, Darren Hamill and Neil McManus, who hit 0-9 against Carlow, are among the players to make way.

Antrim have dominated the Ulster Championship with 50 titles altogether. This weekend they are bidding to lift the trophy for the 10th year in-a-row.

ANTRIM (SHC v Armagh): Ciaran Cunningham; Christopher McGuinness, Kieran McGourty, James McCouaig; Kevin McKeague, Matthew Donnelly, Ciaran Herron; Barry McFall, Simon McCrory; Joey Scullion, Thomas McCann, Eddie McCloskey; Paddy Doherty, Colm McFall, Karl McKeegan.
