Ireland full back Rob Kearney has said the players, and not the coach Declan Kidney, must take the blame for yesterday's 12-8 defeat to Scotland at Murrayfield.
The pressure has increased on Kidney following a second defeat in three Six Nations games with speculation mounting that he will not be offered a new deal at the end of the season.
Kidney himself has said he is just concentrating on one game at a time and not thinking about what lies ahead.
The team lost despite having 71% of possession and making four line breaks compared to none for the Scots.
Kearney said they must take responsibility as a group.
He said: "We are all in this together, we are making a statement for him (Kidney), for ourselves, for our country.
"I think, to be fair, one of those days like today where we had so much possession and we created those opportunities, a lot of the blame has to be on the players.
"The coach can't make that final pass for you, or that clinical decision. The guys are happy with the gameplan, they are happy with the way we are playing the game and the stats showed that.
"It is one of those days you can’t really explain."
