Danny Healy-Rae complains in Dáil about 'Kerry snail' problem in Cork

The Dáil has heard claims that County Kerry is being denied investment - because of a problem with snails.

Danny Healy-Rae (pictured) has said the so-called 'Kerry snail' is the reason why the main N22 between Tralee to Cork City has not been completed.

The road has been completed within Kerry's borders - but has not been built in Cork, over concerns about a local slug habitat.

In the Dáil Danny Healy-Rae complained about the problem being referred to as the 'Kerry snail' when it is actually in Cork: “It has been held up by environmentalists and others, who thought up ridiculous reasons like snails and other species.

“And to rub salt into our wounds they called it the Kerry snail, I’m wondering did they put a Kerry jersey on him or how did they decide he was a Kerry snail.”
