Two women have been killed in road crashes in Kerry and Louth overnight.

A 59-year-old woman died in Kerry General Hospital after a two vehicle collision at Ballynane in Annascaul at 6.40pm yesterday evening.

She was a passenger in one of the cars, while a 58-year-old woman and 39-year-old man who were driving the vehicles were also taken to hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

Elsewhere a woman in her 20's was killed in a collision in County Louth shortly after 2pm this morning.

She was driving a car which crashed on the Main Street of Castlebellingham, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses to both incidents to come forward.
