Sauze D’Oulx ensured the Millman family’s arduous journey from Devon to Leicester paid off as his stamina won the day in the six-furlong ladbrokes.com Nursery.
The juvenile had been down the field on his most recent outings over the minimum distance but relished the longer trip on testing ground under trainer Rod’s son James, and he collared Secret Meaning by a head.
Millman senior said of the 15-2 winner: “He didn’t progress over five furlongs and he really wants seven; we always thought he wanted a trip.
“He is a nice horse and he should run well to the end of the season.
“We weren’t too worried about the ground as we knew he would stay the trip well.”
