Tallaght gardaí arrest man in connection with suspect device find

Gardaí in Tallaght have arrested a male in his 20s and recovered a suspect device this evening.

At approximately 7.30pm, gardaí intercepted two males on foot in the Cushlawn Estate area of Tallaght.

When stopped, the two pair attempted to escape and following a short pursuit one male was arrested a short distance away, gardaí said. The other male escaped from gardaí.

When searched at the scene, the arrested male was found to have a suspect device.

Gardaí then requested the assistance of the Army EOD who attended the scene and who have taken the device away for further examination.

The male was taken to Tallaght garda station where he is currently detained under the provisions of Section 30 of The Offences Against the State Act.
