Weather worry for Demon

Henrietta Knight has warned Racing Demon may miss his intended clash with Monet’s Garden at Carlisle next Sunday should the ground at the Cumbrian track be heavy.

The Wantage trainer has earmarked the Colin Parker Memorial Intermediate Chase over two and a half miles as the starting point for her six-year-old, who wracked up three consecutive wins last season before finishing seventh in the Arkle.

In addition to King George favourite Monet’s Garden, Racing Demon would also be locking horns with French chasing star Mid Dancer at Carlisle, but Knight will be keeping a close eye on the weather forecast.

“I don’t know if he will run on heavy ground,” she said.

“I have never been to Carlisle before but Terry (Biddlecombe) tells me it is a lovely course.

“If he didn’t run there I don’t know where I would go with him. I did consider the Haldon Gold Cup but that is too short (in distance).”
