Govt claims victory over rebels in Syria
The Syrian government has declared victory against rebel forces in the country.
A spokesman said the year-long struggle to overthrow President Assad's regime is over.
However, he said government forces will stay in cities to "maintain security" until it is safe to withdraw in line with a UN-backed peace deal.
Western and Arab officials are gathering in Turkey for talks on Syria's future which take place tomorrow.
