Plans for new 'Bottom' series dropped

A planned revival of cult TV comedy 'Bottom' by Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson has been axed.

The duo were working on a new project for the BBC called 'Hooligans’ Island', but they have now ditched their plans.

They were due to revive their characters Richard Richard and Eddie Hitler, taking them to a tropical location.

But Edmondson said in an interview for BBC Radio Essex said the series would no longer be going ahead: “We started working on something and we realised why we stopped working together. It wasn’t working.”

He added: “Once you get to a certain age you want to do things you really enjoy, not just things you can do.”

A BBC spokeswoman said: “I can confirm that Hooligans’ Island is not going to be made.”
