Fine Gael TD suspended from Dáil

Fine Gael's John Deasy has been officially suspended from the Dáil.

Fine Gael's John Deasy has been officially suspended from the Dáil.

The suspension follows a row in the chamber last week between Mr Deasy and Fianna Fáil’s Willie O’Dea about crime figures.

After exchanges with the Ceann Comhairle, Deputy Deasy was ruled out of order and today the Dáil held not one but two votes to expel the Waterford TD.

The first vote was by electronic means and the second was by the traditional walk through method.

John Deasy was unofficially expelled from the Dáil last week, but as he has already spent two days outside the chamber he will be re-admitted tomorrow.
