John Gregory is looking for a massive improvement on the inept performance in Saturday's 3-0 hammering by Liverpool when his side entertain Newcastle United in their FA Cup third round replay.

He will be boosted by the return of Lee Hendrie and George Boateng after suspension, while Ian Taylor could also be fit after a hamstring injury.

Gregory said: "Saturday hurt all of us as well as the supporters, especially getting beat in the manner that we did.

"It was not the strongest team we have put out but I will never whinge about things like that and you have to get on with it.

"We've now got to produce on Wednesday and it will give us the chance to erase some, if not all, of the memories of the way we performed at the weekend. It's a chance to put the record straight and put a smile back on a few faces."

David Ginola will be under pressure to produce an inspired performance against his former club after the signing of Juan Pablo Angel on Monday from River Plate.

Newcastle are without the suspended Kieron Dyer and Peruvian midfielder Nolberto Solano, but manager Bobby Robson has at least been boosted by the return of Scottish international Kevin Gallacher for the clash.

The former Blackburn Rovers player has been out for 10 weeks with a combination of hamstring and calf injuries, and after starring and scoring for the reserves last week, he could be asked to partner teenager Shola Ameobi in attack despite his lack of match practice.

Midfielder Rob Lee will not be risked at Villa Park as he battles against his own hamstring problem, and Newcastle will also have to do without on-loan defender Wayne Quinn, who performed well in his debut against Coventry but was not registered in time to qualify for the cup tie, Andy Griffin returning in his place.
