Celtic defender Johan Mjallby has turned his back on a return home to complete a two-year deal with Spanish club Levante.
The 33-year-old was due to speak to former club AIK Solna next week over a possible return to Sweden.
But Levante, who will return to the Primera Liga for the first time in almost 40 years this season, have stepped in to clinch the signature of Mjallby.
The central defender joined the Hoops in late 1998 and was recently also linked with a move to Bolton.
Mjallby has won 48 caps for his country and was part of the Euro 2004 squad but did not play in Portugal.
The Swede is now set to come up against former Hoops team-mate Henrik Larsson during the Spanish season.
AIK Solna had been hoping to begin discussions with their former player next week.
The 33-year-old had been offered a one-year contract at Parkhead.
