Mobile phone group Vodafone today said it had rung up a 3% hike in annual pre-tax profits to £10.3bn (€15bn) .
The company said it had met or topped all its stated targets during the year and doubled the dividend to shareholders despite growing competition.
It said organic revenues grew by 6%, boosted by particularly strong markets including the US and Spain, where revenues rose at more than 20% year on year.
Vodafone Ireland's subscriber base is now nearing two million customers, rising from 1,864,000 to 1,952,000 in the twelve months to 31 March 2005.
The addition of 88,000 customers in the past year reflects a strong performance in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
