FAI Ford Cup holders Sligo twice hit the woodwork late on as First Division Monaghan lived to fight another day as both sides finished with 10 men at the Showgrounds this evening.

The teams meet again at Gortakeegan on Tuesday night to decide this fourth round tie.

Sligo keeper Brendan Clarke was the first to see red when dismissed on 61 minutes for a dreadful challenge on Monaghan midfielder Michael Isichei.

Monaghan midfielder Keith Quinn was then also sent off on 75 minutes when he tangled off the ball with Sligo skipper Richie Ryan.

Sligo finished strongly and topscorer Eoin Doyle headed a Raffaele Cretaro cross off a post on 77 minutes.

Joseph Ndo also hit the Monaghan woodwork from a free kick in the 90th minute as Roddy Collins' side survived.
