ICTU warns skills must be updated

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions claimed today that the Irish workforce needs to update skills to survive into 2015.

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions claimed today that the Irish workforce needs to update skills to survive into 2015.

ICTU has proposed employers should introduce "Learning Leave" as a means of encouraging employees to further their education.

General Secretary David Begg said it is necessary to improve skills in order to protect jobs and sustain growth.

He said the skills of the current workforce will be obsolete in 10 years time if we don't further our education.
