Taoiseach: Ministers 'safe until July', but signals Cabinet reshuffle in late 2013
The Taoiseach has signalled a Cabinet reshuffle in the second half of next year.
Enda Kenny said the Government would be far too busy during the EU presidency to consider a ministerial shake-up, and that the members of Cabinet were "safe until July".
Ministers will be involved in more than 1,600 meetings in Dublin, in Brussels and in other European capitals in the six-month term of the EU presidency.
It is the clearest signal yet from Enda Kenny that he does intend a shake-up of his ministerial team in the second part of next year, the mid-point of the coalition's expected five-year life.
Mr Kenny has previously signalled he will shake up the team mid-way through the term of government.
Asked about a reshuffle this morning, a jovial Mr Kenny said: "They're safe until July anyway…I haven't given any consideration to a reshuffle of Cabinet."
