Toulouse defender Bobo Balde has pledged his future to Celtic and is set to become the champions’ first summer signing.
The player responded positively to the weekend deadline set by Hoops manager Martin O’Neill, rejecting advances from Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen.
But some details of the deal still need to be thrashed out today, with the player waiting for O’Neill to summon him to Glasgow.
Balde said: ‘‘I am ready to fly to Glasgow as soon as I get the call and this time to sign my contract with Celtic.
‘‘Martin O’Neill convinced me to come to Scotland and I accepted his offer with a counter-proposition.’’
The 25-year-old’s £2.5million move is further complicated by the fact that his wife is about to give birth in France and his mother is ill back in his African homeland.
But the lure of the Champions League should be enough for O’Neill to sign the player on a five-year deal.
