Suspected Palestinian militants have killed an Israeli in a roadside shooting near the Jewish settlement of Shavei Shomron today.

Another Israeli was also injured in the shooting, which happened just a few miles from the West Bank town of Tulkarem, where a Palestinian activist was killed in an explosion this morning.

Palestinians have blamed Israel for the killing, saying Raed Carmi, leader of the Fatah movement, was assassinated as part of Israel’s policy of deliberately murdering its political opponents.

Israel has assassinated more than 60 Palestinian activists in the last 16 months.
