This afternoon's meeting at Chepstow will go ahead as planned after a precautionary inspection was scrapped.

A dry night and day yesterday meant the course was able to dry out slightly however conditions at the Welsh venue remain testing.

“We had a reasonably drying day yesterday and no rain overnight,” said clerk of the course Tim Long.

“I called a precautionary inspection in the light that any deterioration in the ground would have caused us problems but it was dry overnight.

“We are currently dry with a nice breeze but the ground remains heavy. There could be showers this afternoon but there is nothing we can do about that.”
