Drogheda United came from behind to beat Derry City 2-1 at Hunky Dorys Park to stay second, though they've played a game more that those around them.

David McDaid put Derry ahead from a second minute penalty after he'd been taken down in the area by Alan McNally. Declan O'Brien levelled for Drogheda from a spot kick of their own on 25 minutes, his third penalty in four games.

Central defender McNally made amends for his early indiscretion when hitting what proved the winner for Drogheda three minutes before half-time.

Late goals from Christy Fagan and Vinny Faherty gave third placed St Patrick's Athletic a 2-0 win over Shelbourne at Tolka Park to keep their slim title hopes alive.

Fagan headed home a Sean O'Connor cross on 70 minutes to break the deadlock.

Shelbourne had Anto Murphy sent off on 84 minutes for raising his hand to O'Connnor before substitute Faherty added the second goal four minutes into added time.

Kevin Devaney gave Bohemians a shock 1-0 win over champions Shamrock Rovers at Tallaght Stadium. Striker Devaney touched home a Keith Ward free kick in the final minute of the first half.

Goals from Keigan Parker and Gavin Kavanagh gave Cork City a 2-0 win over Bray Wanderers at Turner's Cross, despite Tommy Dunne's side finishing with nine men.

Striker Parker put Cork in front in the 32nd minute with defender Kavanagh heading powerfully home from Ian Turner's corner for the second on 58 minutes.

Turner was then the first City player to see red for a second booking following a foul on Marty Waters.

Fellow midfielder Gearoid Morrissey was also dismissed in the 88th minute following a clash with Adam Mitchell.
