A woman was killed when she was hit by a car as she walked along a road in Co Sligo yesterday evening.

A woman was killed when she was hit by a car as she walked along a road in Co Sligo yesterday evening.

The 48-year-old was knocked down at around 5pm at Corballa, near the coastal village of Enniscrone.

Gardaí from Easkey Garda station are investigating.

Some 277 people have been killed on the country’s roads this year, including 65 pedestrians. Last year 308 people were killed in the same period.
