The opposition leaders have wasted no time today in in criticising Taoiseach Bertie Ahern's reshuffled cabinet.

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny said the reshuffle does nothing to alter the performance of the Government. “Old and new you are all guilty you are all to blame because you are all the same,” he said.

“Today, for the sake of democracy and for the sanity of the electorate, I want to name the lie that this is a new government.”

Labour leader Pat Rabbitte said that despite all the hype, the changes made have been relatively small.

“13 of the 16 faces who met around the cabinet table last week will be meeting in the Áras tonight,” said Deputy Rabbitte.

“Looking across from where I am sitting I don't see any change, I don't see where the new direction is due to come from.”

“The Ministers for State were announced to take the bare look off the lack of change."
