Greenkeepers at the exclusive K Club, home of the 2006 Ryder Cup, are to meet tonight to discuss a proposed 50% pay increase which could see their wages rise to €15 an hour.
In a long-running dispute, staff at the club have been fighting for pay hikes with arbitration talks failing on two separate occasions.
It was referred to the country’s Labour Court in July in a last ditch effort to strike a deal.
Officials there recommended a wage increase on Monday which could bring their pay up from from under €10 to near €15.
Management have so far refused to comment.
Colm Quinlan, Amicus branch secretary, said if they make no approach today he will contact employers’ federation IBEC.
“The issue has dragged on for seven months. It has now been dealt with by the Labour Court. Amicus will be recommending full acceptance of the Labour Court recommendation to our members,” he said.
And the union boss added if management accept the proposal the matter can be resolved immediately.
