A drama about the life of Queen Elizabeth II is reported to be being made by TV streaming giant Netflix.
The show, set to be called The Crown, will cover the British Queen’s time on the throne and teams up playwright Peter Morgan with director Stephen Daldry.
The pair worked together on The Audience which starred Dame Helen Mirren as the monarch and was based around her regular meetings with her serving prime ministers.
The stage show, which had rave reviews in London, is said to be the inspiration for the planned 20-episode series.
Dame Helen, who won the leading actress Oscar in 2007 for her performance in the title role of The Queen, is not believed to be in the running for the leading role.
Netflix has had a huge critical and commercial success with two series of the political drama House Of Cards based on the BBC show of the same name.
