Nurses are gearing up for a campaign of industrial action, seeking better wages and working hours.

All 40,000 members of the INO and PNA have voted overwhelmingly in favour of work stoppages and a nationwide work to rule.

From the end of this month lunchtime protests will begin at some of the country's main hospitals in Cork, Limerick, Galway and Dublin.
