A man has been shot dead in a housing estate in Coleraine, Co Derry.

A man has been shot dead in a housing estate in Coleraine, Co Derry.

The victim was gunned down in Loughanhill Park on the Ballysally estate.

Local sources said the man died on arrival at hospital. Police have not yet

established a motive for the shooting.

The RUC said a number of men forced their way into the victim's house before making their getaway in a silver Renault 11 car.

It was later found abandoned and on fire a short distance away.

Supt John Bustard commented: "I utterly condemn those who carried out this brutal murder and am urging the public to assist us in our investigation."
