There has been condemnation of a shooting in Dublin last night, in which a man was shot in the leg on the Ballyfermot Road at around 9pm.

There has been condemnation of a shooting in Dublin last night, in which a man was shot in the leg in Ballyfermot at around 9pm.

He was shot while driving his moped on Cleggan Road. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A 40-year-old man was arrested and is being held at Ballyfermot Garda Station.

Local Sinn Féin Councillor Daithi Doolan said the man's young child witnessed her father being shot.

Doolan condemned the shooting and called for anyone with information, "however small they think it may be" to contact the gardaí.

He also asked the Minister for Justice to deploy extra garda resources in the Ballyfermot area.
