The King stays at the top

Elvis Presley stayed on top of the UK charts once more this week despite the single's deletion by the record company.

Record bosses decided to stop stocking stores with the remix of Elvis Presley's A Little Less Conversation as from last Friday - the single will only be available until remaining stocks sell out.

It was reported BMG was deleting the single to make way for Gareth Gates second single release Anyone Of Us (Stupid Mistake) - the record company has denied the accusation.

This is the fourth week the track used in the Nike adverts has been at number one.

When the song, remixed by Dutch DJ JXL, shot to the top, its success helped rewrite music history 25 years after the King's death.

It gave him a total of 18 British number ones, breaking a record he had shared with The Beatles.

The new Oasis album Heathen Chemistry went straight in at number one in the album charts whilst their single Stop Crying Your Heart Out dropped back nine places to number 13 in the charts.

The Oasis brothers knocked Eminem's The Eminem Show of the top slot - the rapper dropped back to number three in the album charts.

There was also a new entry for American rapper, Nelly, with Nellyville at number two.

In the single's charts the Red Hot Chili Peppers went straight in at number two with their single By The Way. And Jennifer Lopez's I'm Gonna Be Alright went in at number three.
