Chimney sweep wows X Factor judges

A singing chimney cleaner sweeps the judges off their feet in tonight’s edition of The X Factor.

Viewers will see 30-year-old Kye Sones, from Middlesex, wow the panel when he takes to the stage at the London auditions.

The singer-songwriter, who has been gigging around the country for a decade, performs RIP in front of the track’s original singer, guest judge Rita Ora.

She tells him: “You made RIP sound so cool man! Can I tell you something? You’re a superstar!”

Fellow panellist Louis Walsh adds: “You were born to sing, you weren’t born to clean chimneys. We’re looking for the X Factor and I think we found the X Factor in you.”

Kye tells the judges: “I don’t just want the songs I write to end up on pads of paper around my flat, you know, I want to be heard.”

Other contestants on the second show of the series include Rylan Clark, from Essex, who says he is “all about Ibiza” and has previously performed in a Take That and Westlife tribute band.

The 23-year-old tells the judges – including Take That star Gary Barlow: “On a Thursday we were Take That and on a Monday we were Westlife – we just used to change the shirts.”

But Rylan receives a mixed response after his rendition of Des’ree’s Kissing You, with Gary telling him: “Love your personality, hate your voice.”

Tulisa Contostavlos adds: “I’m an Ibiza girl so I love the fact that you’ve brought a bit of Ibiza to us today. I mean, you’re fun.”

Spice Girl Mel B returns as a guest judge for the Manchester auditions on this week’s show, with former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger joining the panel in Newcastle.
