Brighton could make a move for Shelbourne striker Jason Byrne in January after it emerged that Brighton manager Mark McGhee has been to watch the Republic of Ireland star.
McGhee watched Byrne in last week's 0-0 against Cork City and is planning a second trip to Dublin to watch Shelbourne face Bohemians on Friday with a view to making a bid for the 26-year-old in January.
"We are still looking for a centre forward and that has got to be the priority because we are not scoring goals," said McGhee.
Byrne is currently the eircom League's top scorer with 21 goals and looks certain to claim the golden boot for the third successive season.
