Five-time All-star Joe Cooney inspired Galway to a 1-19 to 0-09 defeat of Tipperary in today's All-Ireland masters (over-40s) hurling final at the Gaelic Grounds, Limerick.
Cooney and company landed the Tribesmen's third All-Ireland hurling title in the space of two weeks, adding to the minor and Under-21 successes.
A six-point haul from Michael 'Hopper' McGrath sandwiched the game's only goal from Pat Higgins, who deftly flicked beyond Andrew Fryday on 41 minutes.
Although Tipp were off the pace, current senior team boss Ken Hogan landed a point and his 1989 All-Ireland winning team mate Declan Carr top-scored with three.
Tipp were also beaten by Limerick in last year's masters final.
