A $21m (€19.47m) breach-of-contract lawsuit filed against pop star Michael Jackson by a German concert promoter is to go before a jury next week.
Promoter Marcel Avram sued the entertainer for backing out of performances in Sydney, Australia, and Honolulu on December 31, 1999.
But Jackson said Avram cancelled the shows over concerns they would not be profitable.
During the preliminary hearing in Santa Maria, California, 44-year-old Jackson’s bizarre antics made worldwide news – at one point he hobbled into court on crutches with his left foot wrapped in bandages because of swelling from what he described as a spider bite.
