The front runner in the Labour leadership race, Eamon Gilmore, has said that if elected, he'll be retaining the party's opposition to the US military's use of Shannon airport.

Mr Gilmore said under his leadership, the Labour party will continue to speak out against the military use of the airport in 'unambiguous terms'.

So far the TD for Dun Laoghaire is the only person to come forward for his party's leadership race.

Deputy Gilmore said that, in his opinion, the US military's presence in Shannon still concerns the public.
