A Government backbencher has today made a public call for a referendum on the EU/IMF bailout.
Labour's Tommy Broughan made the plea in the Dáil this morning.
He told Taoiseach Enda Kenny that given the Greek people would get a say, the Irish people should too.
"Will you give any consideration to holding another referendum on the day of the presidential election in relation to the European bailout," he said.
"I notice that Greek citizens, it looks like, that they will get an opportunity to give their verdict on the bailout conditions that apply to Greece - will you give the Irish people their opportunity to have their say on that?"
