The superintendent in charge of the investigation into the death of Ciara Gibbs in Co Kilkenny has denied a newspaper report that her death is being treated as suspicious.

Gardaí have been given more time to examine the Gibbs' family home near Gowran as part of their inquiry into how the 16-year-old died.

She was found dead at the house last Sunday morning after apparently drowning in the bath.

Her mother was also found unconscious and is recovering in hospital, where gardaí are waiting for clearance from medical staff to interview her.
