Fitzgerald: I still have confidence in GSOC after leak

The Minister for Justice, Frances Fitzgerald, said she wants to see the Garda Ombudsman Commission get on with their job, and she still has confidence in GSOC.

"I believe that GSOC has an incredibly important job to do, and I want to see them getting on with that job and doing it in a very professional and competent way," Fitzgerald.

"When I got the report about the leak … reading that report, there was no information in that report that caused me to change my mind about having confidence in GSOC."

Her comments follow critical remarks about the Commission from her predecessor in the Dáil yesterday.

Alan Shatter said the Commission Chairman Simon O'Brien to resign for failing for to find the source of a leak about the alleged bugging of his office.
