Garda checkpoints set up to catch armed raiders

Garda checkpoints have been set up across the Midwest in search of three-armed bank robbers.

Garda checkpoints have been set up across the Midwest in search of three-armed bank robbers.

The gang escaped on foot across country after abandoning their getaway vehicle used in the raid on a branch of AIB in Kilmallock, Co Limerick.

A sum of cash and a firearm have so far been recovered.

Gardaí from Cork, Limerick and Tipperary have been drafted in to help in the search.

The public is being warned not to approach any of the men, who are described as dangerous.
