The Irish Medical Organisation has agreed to attend talks this morning with the South Eastern Health Board about the junior doctors’ dispute.
The two sides were invited to the Labour Relations Commission on Saturday, but there was some doubt about whether the IMO would attend.
The organisation had previously said it would not enter talks with health service employers until the new rosters which led to the dispute were scrapped and the old rosters reinstated.
So far, the dispute has been confined to hospitals in Waterford and Tullamore, but the IMO has balloted junior doctors countrywide about the possibility of a national strike.
The row centres on new rosters which could mean that part of the junior doctors' 39-hour basic week could be worked outside 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 4pm on Friday.
