International peacekeepers were today investigating an incident in which a German armoured vehicle fired on the Intercontinental Hotel in the Afghan capital.
No one was injured in what British Major Angela Herbert, a spokeswoman for International Security Assistance Forces responsible for security in Kabul, called an accident.
But an Associated Press reporter counted 20 bullet holes in a transmission truck for Afghan national television outside the hotel.
Herbert said it was unclear why the mounted machine gun on the vehicle, known as a ‘‘Dingo’’, opened fire. She said the gun’s controls are inside the vehicle.
