A viable incendiary device has been found in the grounds of a police station in the North.

Army bomb disposal experts were called to Ballycastle PSNI station in Co Antrim after the discovery of two suspicious objects.

Homes and businesses on Ramoan Road in the seaside town were evacuated and a controlled explosion was carried out during the alert.

PSNI Inspector Tony Boyce said: “A controlled explosion was carried out following the discovery of two devices.

“The first device was a viable incendiary device and the second a hoax device.

“People have returned to business premises in the area and the Ramoan Road can be accessed as usual.”
