Callum rescued from yobs by police
Playboy Callum Best was rescued by police when revellers at a nightclub threatened to turn nasty today.
This year’s winner of ITV reality show Love Island was making a special appearance at the Blu Bambu in Newcastle’s Bigg Market, when he was abused in the early hours of today.
He was given a lift in a police patrol car to get him away from any potential troublemakers, a Northumbria Police spokeswoman said.
“We gave Mr Best a short lift up the street for his own safety after he received some verbal abuse during a personal appearance at the club,” she said.
The model, son of football hero George, was opening a new club event called 1 Night Stand and had been in the venue from 9pm.
Yobs began to turn abusive later in the evening, and he decided to leave.
Mr Best played down the incident, telling the Evening Chronicle newspaper: “I got into the police car for a laugh and was driven around the corner. That’s all that happened.”
